How to identify Augs

Check Aug clues, understand the scanner and avoid treating a request for medical supplies as proof.

A request for medical supplies does not prove someone is an Aug. Compare the identification guide’s clues and use an Aug Scanner when available.

Is the thief asking for medical supplies an Aug?#

The request alone cannot answer that question. Community references describe Augs seeking medical supplies or materials, including disguised buyers, but that does not make every customer requesting those goods an Aug.

Treat the request as a reason to inspect the encounter more carefully, not as permission to shoot. The same caution applies to the customer’s faction or clothing.

What the identification guide tells you to watch#

The in-game guide groups clues into appearance and behavior. Compare the customer with both groups; a single memorable phrase is not a complete identification method.

  • Appearance: unusual pupils, an unsettling expression or a visible augmentation chip.
  • Movement: unnatural stillness or twitching.
  • Context and speech: clothing that does not fit the stated faction, robotic vocabulary or unusually formal phrasing.

How the Aug Scanner helps#

The community reference describes a binary scan result and a limit of one scan per customer. It lists 25 power per scan, supplied through the scanner’s battery slot. Check its power before relying on it.

An ordinary-looking face is not a reliable clearance: the reference describes Aug variants with less obvious appearance or dialogue.

Why a wrong identification matters#

Shooting a human carries a manslaughter entry and reputation losses. Correctly identifying and shooting an Aug has different consequences; reporting and releasing are also described choices.

Do not plan around a universal bounty or fine. The source describes amounts that change during a run. This guide does not convert dialogue into a certainty score.
