Water purification: tools, steps & troubleshooting

Measure your batch, choose a treatment, check High-Quality or Pure thresholds, and troubleshoot stalled purification.

Measure before choosing a treatment#

Use a fresh strip for purity or AquaScan for component details. Record volume and purity; a printed label does not establish either.

Choose a tool for the actual problem#

  • UV Lamp: use it directly on a nonempty container to address Microbes; it does not remove every other component.
  • Pitcher and filter: water is filtered on entry. Check filter durability and measure the smaller received batch.
  • Water Purifier: prepare the powered overnight machine; its target and removal limits are different from a pitcher.
  • HydraTech Micro Water Purifier: the linked device analysis describes a 98% Basewater target, not a route all the way to Pure.

Work through one measured batch#

  1. Inspect the current batch and choose an available treatment from the tool descriptions above.
  2. For pitcher filtering, install the filter before pouring in. For the overnight machine, insert the container and check power first.
  3. Measure the output instead of assuming the starting volume or purity stayed unchanged.
  4. Compare the result with your target. If it falls short, inspect remaining components or machine limits before repeating.

Check High-Quality and Pure thresholds#

The referenced grade table starts High-Quality at 99.00% and Pure at 99.90%. Reaching 100% is not required for that Pure classification. Leave a margin when a displayed reading is close to a boundary.

Troubleshoot a batch that stops improving#

  • Pitcher: was a filter installed before the pour, and does it still have durability? Water already inside is not continuously treated.
  • Overnight purifier: check container, power and the machine’s Quality target as well as Performance.
  • Portable purifier: the referenced 98% target explains why another use may not improve Basewater.
  • Old measurement: take a new sample after treatment; reopening a used strip does not update it.

Plan a direct mixture after treatment#

Enter fresh volumes and purities in the Water calculator. Choose Mix two batches to inspect a proposed mixture, or Reach a target to calculate cleaner-water additions or a weaker-water limit. Fill free space to check container capacity.

A weighted mixture cannot be purer than its cleanest input. Filtering or active reactions during transfer need different rules. Measure the final batch when the grade matters.

Why some guides disagree#

The Steam guide mixes demo-era observations with later edits and suggests a different portable-purifier outcome from the linked 0.46D / Build 26337366 device analysis. Those claims are not combined into a guaranteed procedure here. Official 1.0.0.2 also reworked the overnight purifier. Check the version notes and your measured result; this page does not supply an exact-night forecast.
