Measure before buying, treat the contaminants you actually have, then measure and label again before selling. A label or a calculator estimate is not a substitute for the final in-game reading.
Start the water business#
The official release preview includes Water Merchant as a starting scenario built around testing, purification and relabeling. Other runs can unlock Water Trading through Wild’s network.
The community processing reference describes an introductory equipment kit and queued water-related visitors after the unlock. Prepare a testing method, usable containers and treatment supplies; do not assume every supplier arrives immediately.

Test before paying for a batch#
The Water Trading Manual warns that labels can misrepresent the contents. Use a Water Test Strip or AquaScan to check the batch you are considering, and distinguish the measured reading from the seller’s label.
A test is a snapshot. After adding water or treating the container, measure again before using its new purity in a plan.
Choose treatment for the contamination#
Different treatments address different contaminants. The manual explains why purity can stop improving: the remaining contamination may not be affected by the method you are repeating.
Check the purification guide for the pitcher, UV and portable-purifier workflows. The official 1.0.0.2 update reworked Water Purifier logic, so an older machine forecast should not be treated as a release-build promise.
Prepare the water for sale#
Remeasure the finished batch, update its label and prepare stock for the buyers you intend to serve. Water grade and customer budget matter; the cleanest batch is not automatically a sale to every customer.
Prepare the display before opening. Merchandise and signs affect different visitor needs, and mid-day display changes do not rebuild that day’s customer queue.
If you offer a Water Pitcher, remove its Water Filter first. The official 1.0.0.5 notes explain that customers now state this reason for refusing the pitcher.
Use the calculator for repeatable direct mixes#
For an untreated direct pour, enter the measured volumes and purities in the Water calculator. Save useful setups with names you recognize, then reload them when you have comparable stock.
The saved plan recalculates a mixture; it does not predict filter wear, contamination removal or overnight machine output. Measure the actual result in-game before labeling or selling it.
